A Steampunk Programming Track for Kids

Children’s Programming returns to The Steampunk World’s Fair in 2017 under the slightly wacky guidance of our own fabulous Galia!

10am 11am Dirigible Safety Test Something has gone terribly wrong! Your airship has malfunctioned and is plummeting rapidly towards the earth! Will the passengers survive?!
Using household materials, construct a container which will protect a raw egg from cracking when it hits the ground.

11am 12pm Mischief Making Learn how to play pranks, trick your parents, and sneak around causing trouble! Courtyard

12pm 1pm Origami Class and Japonism Fold small pieces of paper into intricate objects while learning about the Victorian craze for Japanese culture!

1pm 2pm Capture the Flag Run! Chase! Grab! Steal! Show your prowess on the field of glorious battle by snatching small strips of fabric and defending your land! Courtyard

2pm 3pm Create a Pirate/Explorer Part I – Use your excellent imagination to come up with an explorer or pirate character, and draw them! Courtyard

3pm 5pm Device Creation Need a new robot companion? An energizing ray hat? A magnetic snorgifer?

Come to device creation and turn everyday junk into your next technological marvel!

5pm 7pm Kid’s Scavenger Hunt Run around the convention and find as many list items as possible, as quickly as possible, to earn prizes, glory, and some really cool stories.

This scavenger hunt will use an app, so at least one team member must have a smart phone.

This event starts at the patio, but could take you to many other places at the Fair!

 5:30pm 8:30pm Adult’s Scavanger Hunt  Run around the convention and find as many list items as possible, as quickly as possible, to earn prizes, glory, and some really cool stories.

11am 12pm Make Your Own Compass More fun with household objects! We will make a functional, working compass to guide you through adventures, peril, and being quite lost! Boardroom C
1pm 2pm Bubble Art You are ENCOURAGED to blow bubbles with a straw – and you’ll make beautiful art with it!

This class is recommended for children under 8 – older kids may find it boring.
