So you want to know what there is to do at this “Steampunk World’s Fair”, eh?

The answer to that you will find below soon enough! We are daily working to build this steampunk celebration for you and your friends, bringing you the largest and most unorthodox steampunk convention/festival on the East Coast!

But the quick answer is that you will find discussions, debates, workshops, demonstrations, readings, parties, contests, games, and parades to satisfy all of your steampunk needs in art, music, literature, fashion, science, film, theater, gaming, and more at the Steampunk World’s Fair.

Our schedule of events shall be coming out closer to the Fair! Until then, you can order your tickets for the tea party, murder mystery dinner, drinks at the Cabaret, and register for the event over on the Tickets page.

The Cup of Brown Joy Tea Party4pm-6pm Don’t let creation expire before you have tea with us! This tea consists of an opportunity to spend time with that immortal poet, Professor Elemental; a chance to spend time with your colleagues engaging in the most civilized of discourse – namely, that which happens over a nice hot cuppa; white glove service; and a Display of Fine Teas. Check out the top of the Registration Page to purchase your tickets to this delicious event! Entertainment to be announced.

The Big Brass Ball, part 18pm-12pm Our monthly dance and event night, The Big Brass Ball, is getting all gussied up just for you! This first part will be a more formal dress ball, so get on your dancing shoes, pull out the dance cards, gloves, masks and fans, and enjoy a lovely evening swirling around the Grand Ballroom!

Saturday, May 15th

The Gentleman’s Duel – Modified toy projectiles in the courtyard. Twenty paces. Turn… fire! (Ladies and children strongly welcome!) This for-fun event will allow friends and foes to challenge each other to see who is the quickest draw in the land. And if you miss your target, there’s always the boffer swords!

Lovecraft’s Revenge Murder Mystery Dinner - We know you’re not content with having just a fascinating murder mystery game, to be entertained by extraordinarily talented actors, coached by an award-winning playwright. Even when we added that the entire event is themed after the seminal phantasm world of Howard Philips Lovecraft, you cried out, “Not enough! We demand that this experience also include a buffet dinner from the famed steampunk cookbook, ‘Fuel For The Boiler‘!” Fortunate for you that we at the Steampunk World’s Fair just happen to be overachievers. To participate in the game, interact with our actors, and feast delightedly upon the finest food the Steampunk World has to offer, just skip on over to our Registration Page to purchase your dinner tickets!

The Gaslamp Cabaret8pm-2am Six hours of amazing steampunk, cabaret, and vaudeville entertainment- how is this possible? We just rock that way. For drinks at the bar, you can head to the Registration Page, but the Cabaret itself is free to all attendees! Featuring: HUMANWINE, Weird Val, Happy Hour Burlesque, The Absinthe Drinkers, and Professor Elemental as your Master of Ceremonies! Schedule and full list of Cabaret performers coming forthwith!

The Big Brass Ball, part 28pm-12pm Want to take a break from the time traveling and get out to dance tonight? Come to our informal Big Brass Ball! This second part will be a dress-down event, with Industrial and Dance music. Glo-sticks, raver girls, and strobe lights all welcome in the Miracle Room!

Are you coming to the Steampunk World’s Fair? Want to flaunt your steampunk style? We’re looking for pictures that you took or have the rights to, showing off any kind of steampunk! Shiny and brassy? Dusted and dingy? Maybe even a little casual? We want them! All ages welcome; group shoots, too! How much or little steampunk you want to show off is up to you.

To help us showcase the many faces of steampunk, send your pictures to steamfairprog@gmail.com

(Thank you to everyone who has been providing pictures for this project! Special thanks to Bob Nittoli, Nate Buchman, Céline Gaille [check out her article "An initiation to the art of being Steampunk" and Flickr album devoted to the steampunk twins, Alex & Juli!] and to D.Q.
