Costume Parade:fashionprize Saturday, 4:30-5PM
The Costume Parade is open to everyone! Come enjoy a leisurely walk around the Steampunk World’s Fair while showing off your great costume! You do not need to enter the contest to enter the parade.
The Judges table will be located in the Midway next to the Midway Stage. Curator Division entrants and Parade participants should be by the table at 4:15 PM. To give enough time for the parade and onsite judging, prizes will be awarded at the next break in Midway Stage entertainment (6:00-6:30PM). You must be present to win.

Costume Contest:
This year’s costume contest will have two main categories-Makers and Curators. Makers are defined as someone who has made or modified most of their own costume and props. A Curator is someone who has who put together cosplays/costumes by assembling or “curating” a collection of Makers’ and store-bought pieces. Contestants will self-select the category they feel best defines the work they have done in their own costume.

Makers:
Pre-judging, Friday, 6:00-7:00PM, Embassy Centennial Room
Makers are defined as someone who has made or modified most of their own costume and props. As Makers ourselves, we know how much work goes into a good costume and we would like the opportunity to fairly judge that work. There will be pre-judging for Makers only. It will occur Friday night from 6:00-7:00 PM the Centennial Room at the Embassy Suites hotel. We recommend entrants be prompt. The judges will judge on a first come first served basis and will judge as many entrants as possible in the one hour time frame. Winners will be announced at the end of the Costume Parade on Saturday. Entrants must be present to win.
Makers will be broken into two categories-Experienced and Novice as designated by the contestant. Entrants self-select the category they feel best defines their level of skill. Pre-registration is not required.
The judges will award 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes at the end of the Costume Parade on Saturday. Entrants must be present to win. While you must be present during the award ceremonies held at the judges table at the end of the Costume Parade, you do not need to participate in the parade.
We apologize for timing but the great folks at the Steampunk World’s Faire have a jam-packed schedule of fun things for you to do so space is at a premium. Please do not worry! If you can’t make the pre-judging, you can still participate in the contest on the day of the parade under the Curator category!

Curators:
A Curator is someone who has who put together cosplays/costumes by assembling or “curating” a collection of Makers’ and store-bought pieces. Judging will occur as entrants parade past the judge’s table during the Costume Parade. This will occur at the start of the parade so if you cannot or do not desire to participate in the parade, you can still enter the costume contest. Pre-registration is not required.
The Judges table will be located next to the Midway Stage. Curator Division entrants as well as parade participants should be by the table at 4:15 PM. The parade will start promptly at 4:30 PM.
Winners will receive a prize ribbon donated by Barnum 1404. There will be six winners. Participants will self-select that category they wish to compete in. The categories are:

  • Adventurers, individual contestant
  • Adventurers, group contestant (2 or more entrants judged together)
  • Airship Pirates, Captain or Crew, individual contestant
  • Airship Pirates, group contestant (2 or more entrants judged together)
  • Cosplay (defined as you are recreating a Steampunk Version of an existing character from a TV, movie, book or video game), individual contestant
  • Cosplay (defined as you are recreating a Steampunk Version of an existing character from a TV, movie, book or video game), group contestant (2 or more entrants judged together)

Winners will be announced at the Saturday 6:00-6:30 break in Midway Stage Entertainment in front of the judges table (next to the Midway Stage). You must be present to win.
